Terms and Conditions

Company Policies: Lucky Dog, Ventures

We know you have questions. Hopefully you will find the answers you need here. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Vacation Services:

All pets are included when we calculate the cost of your visit. Small caged animals/fish are adjusted by the amount of care needed for a service. A pinch of fish food will not be calculated at the same rate as cleaning/caring for a salt water fish tank.

Clients are required to text the pet sitter when they depart the house for their trip and when they return. This is for the safety of the pet(s) and to insure all communication is clear.

Your pet sitter will feed all pets, and administer any medications needed. (Medications given in food, placed in pill pockets/meat/cheese, or that are chewable do not incur extra fees. An additional fee of $5 is added to each visit when difficult oral medications are administered, and a $10 fee for each injection. We do not administer chemotherapy and recommend a licensed veterinary professional for such services. We can offer Pet Taxi to and from the vet.)

All dogs will be walked, or given play time, and an opportunity to take care of their outdoor needs.

Cats (that do not hide from new people) will receive love and attention, and litter boxes will be cleaned out.

If you need mail brought in, plants watered, or lights/blinds altered we will also handle this. (If you have a plant routine takes 15 minutes or more, there will be an additional fee.)

You will receive a daily report/photo text (if requested) to update on how things are going.

We strongly encourage you to have cats and other small animals visited every day. You never know how they respond to your absence.

If you are delayed, we will make every effort to continue service without interruption. Please notify the office/or your sitter as soon as you know there is a problem with your return. We will waive late notice fees for travel emergencies.

Keys/Meet & Greet:

You will receive a complimentary Meet & Greet with your pet sitter, before your first service. This is a chance to get to know your pet sitter, go over your pets needs, and answer any questions you might have. The meeting is at your home, and usually lasts about 30 minutes. We try to schedule this meeting close to your first service. It helps keep details fresh for the sitter, and builds a bond between your pet(s) and the sitter. Any additional Meet & Greet service will be billed at $25 for 30 minutes.

We ask you have a couple things before this meeting. Your paperwork should be completely filled out. You should also have two copies of your key that you will test with the pet sitter. One key is for them during the service. The back-up goes on file in our office should there be an emergency. Please tell your sitter what door(s) they should use. We also recommend you leave a copy of your key with a trusted neighbor, or nearby friend/family member in case of emergencies. (Please note: if there is a problem, and we cannot gain entry to your house. We will first try to reach you, but should the need arise we will contact a locksmith, and you will be responsible for any charges. Your pet is our #1 concern.)

Additional key drop offs/pick ups will incur a $25 dollar fee.

Locked Out? If you lock yourself out, or have an emergency and need someone to come and let you into your home, we will try to accommodate your request as soon as possible… there will be a $40 dollar fee for this service. Sitters do not carry keys on them when they are not actively doing your service.

Reservations:

Once your service request has been received, we will send you an e-mail confirming the dates, and that we have found someone to fill your service. Your service request is not considered confirmed until you have received this e-mail notification from Lucky Dog, Ventures.

We are happy to fill late requests even up to the start date of your service. Because it is difficult for sitters, and staff to make last minute changes to their day, there will be a one time late fee of $10 for any requests made within 24 hours of service.

We encourage you to send in Holiday requests as early as possible. There is a once daily holiday fee of $25 dollars for all major Holidays. Holidays include: New Year’s Eve services after 3:00 p.m, New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve services after 3:00 p.m., and Christmas Day.

Cancellations:

Please cancel midday dog walks as soon as you know you will be home. If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance you will be charged for the walk.

Vacation Services:

Full payment is due before the service begins, or at the start of the service. If we have not received payment, will can not complete your service.

If you need to cancel vacation services please note that anything prepaid a month prior will be credited to your account. If you cancel within a month of service you will be billed 50% of the service. This is non-refundable. If you have pre-paid for the service you can transfer the the full value to a future service. Pet sitters have arranged their lives to take care of your pet. Frequently they have turned down other overnight requests. Cancellations made within 24 hours of a vacation service are non-refundable, you will be billed for the entire service. Holiday cancellations made within 7 days of service are non-refundable, and you will be billed for the entire service.

Third Parties:

Please advise Lucky Dog, and your pet sitter of anyone who will be in your house while you are away. Most commonly this include house cleaners, repairmen, realtors, family, and friends. If someone else is also performing pet care duties, please know that Lucky Dog’s insurance may not cover certain issues that arise.

Emergencies:

If something should happen to your pet, and they require emergency care we will try to contact you first. If we can not reach you, and the situation is urgent, we will seek assistance at the Veterinarian you have on record. If it is after hours, we will head to an after hour urgent care. You are responsible for all fees. (It is also a good idea to have a credit card on file with your veterinarian) You will be charged the Pet Taxi rate for transporting you pet. ($25 one way)

Inclement Weather/Excessive Heat

When the weather is too hot for pets to safely be out for long walks we will shorten walk times at the sitter’s discretion. They will take into account a dog’s age, if it is a breed that cannot breathe well in heat, and the temperature/heat index.

For inclement weather we will make every attempt to reach your pet in a timely manner. We ask that you clear walkways, and driveways so your sitter, or you don’t take an unfortunate tumble.

If inclement weather strikes when you are on vacation we will do everything we can to make it to your house. If roads are blocked, and it is not possible we suggest you leave a key with a neighbor, and information on how to contact that person in the case of a weather emergency.
